March 31 (Bloomberg) -- The U.S. government and the Federal Reserve have spent, lent or committed $12.8 trillion, an amount that approaches the value of everything produced in the country last year, to stem the longest recession since the 1930s.

New pledges from the Fed, the Treasury Department and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. include $1 trillion for the Public-Private Investment Program, designed to help investors buy distressed loans and other assets from U.S. banks. The money works out to $42,105 for every man, woman and child in the U.S. and 14 times the $899.8 billion of currency in circulation. The nation’s gross domestic product was $14.2 trillion in 2008............more

Detta är "Mark to Market" vilket var vad som sänkte Enron, dvs man skriver teoretiskt upp sina dåliga tillgångar spekulativt och detta med Ben Bernankes goda minne sedan en tid tillbaka.

Bankerna ser ut att göra vinster men tjänar i realiteten inga pengar och kommer inte att kunna betala ut utdelningar, detta var vad jag förstår var en av anledningarna att Enron bedrägeriet föll ihop.

Det enda som kan dra USA ur krisen som jag ser det är en satsning på tillverkande industri och att bättra på den allt mer eftersatta infrastrukturen som fått stå tillbaka under många år.

Service ekonomi fungerar inte i längden, för ”klippa håret” på varandra ordnar inte handelsbalansen varken i USA eller här, och att skyffla pengar över bankerna som med diverse bokföringstrick försöker att få saker och ting att se bättre ut köper inte många i världen längre som jag ser det.

Tyvärr ökar den ekonomiska krisen också risken för ett större krig någonstans som så många gånger tidigare i historien då regeringen egentligen inte klarar av att lösa problemen utan ”behöver” få folk att acceptera sina umbäranden och fokusera på annat.

Klippet är inte helt korrekt som jag ser det därför att man ha klart för sig att enda anledningen Bill Clinton's visade plus under sin period som President berodde på att han tömde fonder som var avsedda för pensioner och liknande och använde dessa för fortlöpande utgifter.

Så där det nu borde finnas pensions pengar till ex.vis "baby boomers" generationen som nu börjar gå i pension finns nu bara en massa skuldsedlar, "rånet" av dessa fonder gjordes även av Bush.

Brazil and China are teaming up to initiate the decline of America's currency as the world's reserve standard.

Brazil and China will work towards using their own currencies in trade transactions rather than the US dollar, according to Brazil’s central bank and aides to Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, Brazil’s president.

The move follows recent Chinese challenges to the status of the dollar as the world’s leading international currency.

Mr Lula da Silva, who is visiting Beijing this week, and Hu Jintao, China’s president, first discussed the idea of replacing the dollar with the renminbi and the real as trade currencies when they met at the G20 summit in London last month.

Lite ”festligt” att man nu för tiden får de minst ”spunna” och oftast de mest korrekta nyheterna från RT och Pravda då det tidigare var synonymt att Pravda var propaganda mediet framför alla andra.
 
I USA kan man tro delvis på nyheter från MSNBC av de så kallade ”mainstream media” men resten är i samma ”klass” samma det tidigare Pravda men numera i amerikansk tappning.
Iofs ser man en förändring av rapporteringen antagligen för ”mainstream media” tappar så mycket mark till alternativa media (människor vill ha sanning) så även dom har börjat rapportera saker som dom tidigare kategoriskt vägrat skriva om.

IRS tax revenue falls along with taxpayers' income

Federal tax revenue plunged $138 billion, or 34%, in April vs. a year ago — the biggest April drop since 1981, a study released Tuesday by the American Institute for Economic Research says.
When the economy slumps, so does tax revenue, and this recession has been no different, says Kerry Lynch, senior fellow at the AIER and author of the study. "It illustrates how severe the recession has been."

For example, 6 million people lost jobs in the 12 months ended in April — and that means far fewer dollars from income taxes. Income tax revenue dropped 44% from a year ago.

"These are staggering numbers," Lynch says.

Big revenue losses mean that the U.S. budget deficit may be larger than predicted this year and in future years.

"It's one of the drivers of the ongoing expansion of the federal budget deficit," says John Lonski, chief economist for Moody's Investors Service. The Congressional Budget Office projects a $1.7 trillion budget deficit for fiscal year 2009.

The other deficit driver is government spending, which, the AIER's report says, is the main culprit for the federal budget deficit.

The White House thinks that tax revenue will increase in 2011, thanks in part to the stimulus package, says the report from AIER, an independent economic research institute. But it warns, "Even if that does happen, the administration also projects that government spending will be so much higher each year that large deficits will continue, and the national debt held by the public will double over the next 10 years."

The government may have a hard time trimming spending to reduce the deficit when the recession ends. The 77 million Baby Boomers— those born in 1946 through 1964 — will start tapping their federal retirement benefits soon, which means increased government outlays for Social Security and Medicare.

"It will be doubly difficult for federal government to reduce expenditures and narrow the deficit as rapidly as they did following previous recessions," Lonski says. At the end of the last major recession, in 1981, Boomers were in their 30s. Their incomes were expanding, as was their appetite for goods and services.

The Boomers now are in their 50s and 60s and unlikely to keep increasing incomes for long, which means that revenue from income taxes could flatten in the next few years. Also, Lonski says, they are more likely to save for retirement than spend — and consumer spending is a big driver of the economy.

"The American consumer led us out of previous recessions with some semblance of gusto," Lonski says. "They're too old to do it now."

En kommentar som jag läste, (återigen, vet inte om detta stämmer men det verkar inressant)

The numbers do not work out. 6 million lost jobs do not account for a 44% decline in tax revenues. a 44% decline in tax revenues roughly equates to ALL working Americans having lost almost half of their earning ability.

As I mentioned before, the official unemployment figures do not tell the whole story. People who have lost high-paying jobs and been forced to take lower-paying jobs are still counted as employed, yet as the 44% reduction in tax revenues indicates, this is a significant loss of earning ability.

A 44% decline in tax revenues means that Americans are now earning 44% less money, thanks to a misguided tax policy that encouraged corporations to send high-paying American jobs to other countries.
